Interviu

1 – Hi and thank you for taking the time to answer our questions. FSP was founded in 1993, so how does it feel to have been in this business for more than 30 years?

Since our inception in 1993, we have achieved significant cooperation with Intel for the development of our first ATX form factor power supply and later developed our industrial and medical PSUs. After more than 30 years in this industry, we have gained global recognition for our quality and technological innovation. We continue to strive for greater efficiency and integration with green energy designs.

2 – What inspired you to create products specifically for PC enthusiasts from the very beginning?

Our goal was to provide the market with supplementary products to support the PC industry, based on CPU and GPU demand, safety requirements, and consumer behavior.

3 – After more than 30 years in the business, including the challenges of the pandemic years, how do you view the industry now? What are the current challenges compared to those you faced when you first started?

After more than 30 years in the industry, our outlook remains optimistic. Initially, during the era of PC growth, we focused on innovating ATX PSUs. As technologies evolved, we expanded our offerings to include adapters for notebooks. Later, we further diversified into medical, industrial, and networking PSUs, continually adapting to meet evolving market needs. In response to increasing market demands for higher wattage, we have enhanced both the power supply capacity and efficiency of our products.

We aim to continuously evolve with market and consumer demands, ensuring our products are compatible with green energy initiatives. In line with this commitment, our newer product lines will include Light Electric Vehicle (LEV) solutions.

4 – FSP recently rebranded its PSU line-up, dividing them into three segments: VITA, ADVAN, and MEGA. What prompted this change? Is it simply a renaming of the old models, or have the platforms inside been revamped as well?

The changes were made to help consumers identify the different product segments. In the past, the different series did not properly reflect the product categories. We hope these changes will make it easier for consumers to recognize and choose the products they need. The newer models also have improved performance and provide a brand-new image.

5 – Not long ago, FSP launched its first computer cases on the market, with the latest being the CUT593 Premium Edition in January 2024. How have these cases been received in the market, and what are the next steps? Will cases become a main focus for FSP in the future, and is there a possibility of also doing ODM/OEM for other brands like you do with the PSU business?

To achieve brand recognition, FSP is focusing on developing a range of PC components that offer consumers a cohesive experience. Our PSUs are designed to fit seamlessly inside our computer cases, ensuring compatibility and a unified look. By developing our cases and other PC components with similar design and quality standards, we aim to provide consumers with reliable and stylish products. In the future, we plan to expand our offerings to include more PC components, further strengthening our brand presence and catering to different applications.

6 – What are the main areas where we should expect new developments from FSP this year? At Computex 2024, we saw a couple of new air coolers and AIOs. Are these products going to be launched this year?

We are currently expanding our offerings to include PC cases and redundant power supplies for workstations and servers to reach small to medium-sized companies and educational institutions. At Computex 2024, we showcased our new air coolers and AIO liquid cooling solutions, and these products will be launched later this year.

7 – As one of the manufacturers with the widest ATX 3.x PSU lineup, what were the challenges in developing and deploying this line of products in the market? When do you think ATX 3.x PSUs will overtake and become more popular than the ATX 2.x models?

FSP’s strong research and development capabilities enable us to design the new ATX 3.x PSUs according to the latest power design guide standards. When consumers seek to replace their equipment, they typically prioritize products that adhere to these new power guidelines. The rate of adoption for these PSUs depends on consumer purchasing needs, and current trends indicate that most consumers are readily embracing new technologies.

8 – In recent years, power consumption has grown exponentially for both CPUs and GPUs, especially with AI becoming more popular. What special technologies and features have you developed to ensure your new PSUs can handle the extra load? Do you think the average PSU capacity needed by end-users will continue to rise in the future, or will advancements in technology lead to PCs requiring less power?

As AI models, workstations, and servers continue to enhance their CPU and GPU capabilities, the demand for higher power requirements has increased. Since 2022, we have been developing and deploying new PSUs with higher wattage to meet these demands. However, end users typically do not significantly alter their power consumption requirements since AI processing is currently done on centralized servers rather than individual devices.

9 – What do you think sets FSP apart from other manufacturers? Why should consumers choose FSP products?

FSP distinguishes itself from other manufacturers with over 30 years of experience and a dedicated research and development team that continuously adapts to consumer needs. Our commitment to excellent consumer service further sets us apart, ensuring that consumers receive reliable support and satisfaction with our products.

10 – Thank you very much for your time! Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

From our core focus on PSUs to our recent expansion into products such as coolers and cases, we strive to build a unified brand image that offers complete solutions to consumers. We prioritize consumer feedback to continually enhance their experience. Our primary commitment is reliability, ensuring that consumers receive the utmost satisfaction with our product.
