AMD Ryzen 3000 DDR4 Scaling – Part III – AMD Ryzen 5 3600X + B450 – English version

As we could see in the second part of our study, the daisy-chain topology is optimized for two memory sticks, and there is a great amount of stress applied to the memory controller when we use 4 memory sticks, so we got significantly lower performance compared to using only 2 memory sticks. However, MSI MEG X570 Godlike is a high-end motherboard, closely tweaked by the MSI engineers, so we were able to get pretty good results on X570.

However, that is not the case on B450, where this configuration behaves poorly, barely being able to reach DDR4 3733 1:1, with looser timings and 1.55v vDIMM. Clearly, our B450 motherboard does not appreciate 4 sticks of RAM running over DDR4 3600.
